Sometime ago Belgium militarycollectors were shocked. One collector who was away on holiday had almost his entire collection stolen. If someone on the www offers you these objects please report it. Forum Eerste Wereldoorlog :: Bekijk onderwerp - Diefstal! The list can be found on that forum.(postings littlebelgiansoldier) we thank you.
I don't understand the language so I can't read the list. I feel sorry for the bloke though. I'd be absoutely gutted.

Hi Marcus, I didn't need major lingual skills to understand the major part of the collection that was taken, pretty serious stuff: BROWNING .30 , watergekoelde mitrailleur , op driepoot ,met volle > munitiekist en -houder , type 1917 A 1 , serienummer : 723617 > > > Machinegeweer , luchtgekoeld , MG 13, DREYSE , met ladertassen en laders , > Serienummer C 579 , caliber 8x57 JS > > > Amerikaans, M 1 CARABINE , caliber .30 , met laders en laderhouders aan de > kolf , serienummer 5564506 > > > Duitse mitrailleur , MG 42 , zwarte bakeliet kolf , > Op inplooibare tweepikkel , serienummer MV 18391 dib ccc 788 > > > Amerikaanse pistoolmitrailleur , "GREASE GUN" M3 , met lader , > Serienummer 1777591 RIA > > > Duitse pistoolmitrailleur , "SCHMEISSER " MP 40 ,met lader > Serienummer 7567 cos (1546) > > > BRENGUN , MK II , INGLIS , met lader , serienummer ASR 9 T 1734 > > ***deze wapens zijn alle demil , de MP 40 is volgens NL norm demil , dwz , > het wapen is volledig dichtgelast ***** > > > Ook gestolen , Amerikaanse BAZOOKA , type M 9 A 1 , dit is de versie met > Metalen schoudersteun en tangens vizier , bestaat uit 2 delen die samen > geschroefd worden , is in prachtige staat -zeldzaam--- > > > Een 20 tal laders voor Mp 40 > > Een 15 tal laders voor STENGUN
Thats awful. I'm sure it took the guy years to put it together just for some scumbag to take it. Disgraceful.
The guys who took it knew what they were looking for. Several repro stuff was left behind and only real stuff was taken. that makes some people think that the theft comes from inside the collectorsclimate.

Hi, I was just going to ask if this was suspected. It seems a little strange that he was on holiday when it happened. Someone must have known what he had and maybe if he was going away. With this in mind, do you think then that anything will ever turn up for sale or is it a nice addition to another's private collection ..? And the inevitable question, was he insured? [How on earth do you get insurance for this anyway?] d
It's quite a haul, isn't it ? I can't imagine that those Belgian deacts will surface in the UK. Deactivated in Belgium means "probably no longer full auto" doesn't it ? I expect that the helmets will be chrome-plated and sold to Harley Davidson riders

[How on earth do you get insurance for this anyway?] d The only info I've got right now if from that thread started on that forum. Seems that they were planning a comeback 'cause they left their tools behind. Internet and the black market are likely to be the place were these items will be solled. maybe no now but within several years. We can only hope that the police and justice do his work. insured? I tought there was a possibility to insure these things. but don't ask me how. I 'm just a simple kid
In my experience, Andy, they go into a private collection and that'll be the end of it till the guy who's got them keels over. I used to collect old traps and we have a 'member' who'd do just that. He'd stop at virtually nothing to get amongst another mans collection and pick out what he needed. We know who he is. We know where he is. We know he has the stolen traps. But, seriously and realistically; What can anyone do about it? Nothing, to be honest with ye. And he's not about to invite anyone into his home, to look at his haul. He far prefers to 'visit' the homes of others ~ when he knows they're away.
