€26 millions to make their APCs too small for the drivers. Belgium's army is forced to use drivers no taller than 5ft 7in | Daily Mail Online
I saw this story, but I'm not entirely convinced yet. CVR(T) apparently had a height restriction of 5'9", & I've a feeling some of the Russki Ts have a pretty restrictive limit. Cockup maybe quite likely, but are height restrictions new for AFVs? Not really. C.40 of 'em converted it seems. (?) Bantam Platoon.
Having attempted to sit in the drivers seat of a Universal Carrier, at my full 6' 2", it was apparent that a more diminutive human was a much better fit.
Perfect fit for me then, however, the EU Army is not going to be very intimidating on the parade square at that height!!
A few days ago I spotted a posting regarding the height required of would-be tank drivers and I thought to myself "that's a familiar topic" By the time I had got around to finding the photo that covered this subject (see below) I had lost the link to the new posting hence this posting (does that make sense ?) Would some kind soul point me in the direction of the relevant thread ? Many thanks ! Ron
'Oo's a clever lad ? Many thanks Owen and Compliments of the season to your good self and indeed all who are members of this super website. Ron
By contrast it is often amusing to watch Nicholas Moran trying to climb in and out of WW2 tanks in his videos as he is well over 6' tall.
I think he said he was 6'7" on one of his videos When he sits in some tanks his head is outside the hatch.
