Does anyone know who's command the following formations came under: 246 Field Company, Royal Engineers 20th Guards Brigade Cheers
I thought that with 248 but it's not listed in the Word Doc I have dated as May 10th. I'll have a butchers in Ellis.
Hi, Ellis has the 20th Guards Brigade being ordered from Camberley to Dover on 21 May for the defence of Boulogne. Were they therefore acting independently? Many thanks, Steve Garnett
I rely on Malcolm Bellis's 'Divisions of the British Army 1939 - 1945' quite a lot. He lists the following for 3 Div 246th Field Company (9/39 - 8/45) 248th Field Company (9/39 - 11/39) 253rd Field Company (9/39 - 8/45) 17th Field Company (11/39 - 8/45) 15th Field Park Company (9/39 - 8/45) 248th went to 1st Division in November 1939 in exchange for 17th. The index to Bellis makes it especially useful (but only for those units assigned to a division) He's a nice chap as well. Word Power Books | Malcolm A.Bellis
It looks as if 20 Gds Bde reported directly to Brownrigg as Adjutant-General so listing under GHQ is probably the only option.
