Hi Skoyen89 Sorry it has been so long since I was here. I am still sorting through my dad's papers (allbeit very slowly). I may come up with more info eventually, I am trying to find out as much as I can too. Dad was with Tom Reynolds, Tom Holloway and several others, all since gone I'm afraid. I have a copy of The Silchar Track and also a copy of the original typed manuscript with one or two letters between dad and T. Molloy I will look them out and try and post them for interest. Birmingham Branch of Burma Star Association now have a Facebook page which I admin for them. It seems to be generating some interest and maybe worth you having a look at. https://www.facebook.com/BurmaStarBrum You may be interested in this website too: http://www.battleofimphal.com/ I'll post again when I have dug those letters out from the huge pile of stuff that I have. All the best Roger
Hi Everyone, I went today for Dome, but cant reach the hill due to timing and wrong route. I reach a hill some 700 yards south of dome. I found some foxholes and bomb craters. From those foxholes I found some spend bullets of Japanese origin. From craters I find lots of sharpnels. very soon I shall be going for Dome. From locals I heard that there are still lots of Bunkers and foxholes. I shall update after my exploration. I was trying to attach some pictures of today. But its not happening. Seems something is wrong with my PC. If anyone wants to see pictures of today's exploration please PM me. I will mail it. Raj.
Evening All! Hop over to the Burma Star Association thread and see what I and others have been talking about. Roger
Hi, I've come to this discussion late, but would like to make contact with anyone with material, particularly first-hand accounts, of men who fought at Kyaukchaw in January 1944. I am researching a book on the battle with a focus on the 1st Northamptonshires and, in particular, Alec Horwood VC DCM. I can be reached on 01603 435624 or by email at sjsnelling@sky.com
Let me endorse Stephen Snelling to the max -- he is an excellent researcher and writer. You can often see the fruits of his labors in Britain At War magazine. If anyone can help him, his final work will be the better for it.
