Battle Of The Brigade Box 14th June 1944

    As a part of my off and on researches into the circumstances of my uncle Trooper George Attwood's death (officially listed as 13th June 1944) I am interested in learning about The Battle of the Brigade Box, sometimes referred to as The Battle of The Island, 14th June 1944. This "Battle" took place immediately after the Battle of Villers Bocage, 13th June 1944.

    My particular interest is in the involvement of the 8th Kings Royal Irish Hussars, and most particularly A squadron.

    I have learned a fair bit already from the war Diaries and some Histrories, however I have found that this Battle, whilst being, I think, quite important, isnt too well documented.

    As I believe that my uncle was KIA during this Battle (making his actual death date 14th June) I would like to add as detailed an account of the 8th Hussars involvement in the battle as I can to my web site at
