Went here yesterday morning. Eldest son asked to go.
Here's a link to a website about it.
    Battle of Britain Memorial
Before we got there had a good chat with a Normandy Veteran at Sainsbury's in Folkstone. He hit the beach at Gold with DLI,50th Div on D-Day.
Then later at Dover Castle got chatting with an 1st Bn Irish Guards Veteran who was badly wounded at Anzio.
    Top day for meeting Veterans.
The B of B memorial is rather good too.

The memorial at Capel le Ferne is a good monument didn't realise till later that a lot of the BofB took place over it - I thought most of the battle was over London Dover way. The Battle of Britain museum at Hawkinge is only about two and a half miles from Folkestone, did you get chance to call in.

I went earlier this year, one to be recommended. I spent that long reading all the stuff ran out of time. The exhibits in the armoury look in superb condition, I wish I'd started there first.

Pity they built all around it. Would have been nice if they had preserved it as a national history type museum. Since building on the land the developers have found out that a lot of asbestos sheet that was in the buildings and hangers was used to fill the bomb craters. They have a problem now of a brown site, contaminated and complaints from the residents.
