Another Australian in the RAF. BoB Pilot P/O J.D.Crossman an Australian flew with No 32 Squadron and No 46 Squadron was killed on the 30th of September 1940 at 13:30hrs. He was shot down in his Hurricane I (V6748) at Forest Row, Sussex. During the Battle of Britain the Luftwaffe lost 2,698 airmen and 1,887 aircraft. Almost half the 107 German fighter pilots to claim 100 or more kills (mainly in the east) were veterans of the Battle of Britain. Only eight of them joined their units after mid-1942.
