    Sgt A.Kay of No 248 Squadron was killed along with his crew (B.W.Menser & W.J.Garfield) on the 13th of September 1940 at 19:00hrs. Their Blenheim IVf (L9451) went missing during a sortie off the Norwegian coast.

    P/O J.L.Kemp of No 54 Squadron baled out of his Spitfire I (N3184) because of engine failure on the 21st of July 1940 East of Clacton and was rescued by the Navy.

    P/O R.Kidson a New Zealander from No 141 Squadron was shot down and killed along with his gunner (F.P.J.Atkins) in their Defiant (L7015) off Dover by a Bf 109 of JG51 on the 19th of July1940 at 12:45hrs.

    P/O Fredrick Harry King was in No 264 Squadron until the 24th of August 1940 at 12:40hrs when he and his pilot (Squadron Leader P.A.Hunter) went missing after chasing a Ju 88 out to sea flying a Defiant (N1935). He and his pilot shot down a total of 9 and 1 shared. .

    F/O Richard Hugh Anthony 'Dickie' Lee of No 85 Squadron opened the score for the Squadron in World War II. He was Lord Trenchard's Godson was killed while he was on patrol on the 18th of August 1940. He was lost in his Hurricane I (2923) after chasing three Bf 109's off the east coast, at 17:50hrs. F/L R.H.A.Lee D.S.O.- D.F.C. was aged 23.

    P/O P.Litchfield from No 610 Squadron was on patrol on the 18th of July 1940 in a Spitfire I (P9452 'DW-2'). He was K.I.A. when shot down by a Bf 109 from Gruppe II of JG 51 flown by Haupman H.Tietzen North of Calias at 10:00hrs.

    Son of Robert and Marian Ruth Little, of Armathwaite, Cumberland.

    Sgt R.Little of No 238 Squadron crashed at Burton Bradstock at 16:30hrs on the 13th of August1940. He had been in combat over Portland in his Hurricane I (P3805), he escaped injury. R.Little was shot down and killed on the 28th of September 1940. His Hurricane I (N2400) was shot down over the channel by a Bf 109 at 14:45hrs.

    P/O B.M.McDonough was an Australian flying with No 236 Squadron in Blenheim's during the Battle of Britain. He was killed on the 1st of August 1940 along with the gunner (F.A.P.Head) of the Blenheim IV (R2774) during an attack on Querqueville, France at 17:15hrs.

    P/O William 'Bill' H.Millington an Australian flew with No 79 Squadron and No 249 Squadron during the Battle of Britain. Whilst flying with No 79 Squadron on the 31st of August 1940 he was wounded when he crash landed his Hurricane I (P3050) on fire after combat with a Bf 109 over Romney at 18:00hrs. W.H.Millington moved to No 249 Squadron. He was K.I.A. on the 30th of October 1940. He was shot down in his Hurricane I (V7536) over the Channel at 13:00hrs.

    P/O Harry W.Moody from No 602 Squadron baled safely out of his Spitfire I (P9423) on the 19th of August 1940 at 14:50hrs near North Berstead. He had been attacking a Ju 88 off Bognor Regis and his aircraft was hit by return fire from the rear gunner. Moody suffered slight burns to his hands. On the 7th of September 1940 he was shot down and killed near Biggin Hill at 17:30hrs in his Spitfire I (X4256).

    Son of William James Neville and Julia Kathleen Neville, of Shepperton, Middlesex.

    RUNNYMEDE MEMORIAL

    Sgt W.J.Neville joined No 610 Squadron on the 27th of July 1940. Neville force-landed in a marsh on the 8th of August 1940, overturning his aircraft, but he escaped unhurt. Following a patrol off Calais in his Spitfire I (R6630) on the 11th of August 1940 he was reported M.I.A. aged 26.
