    On the 20th of July1940 Sgt H.Corcoran and his pilot (E.E.Lockton) were flying escort in their Blenheim I (L1300) of No 236 Squadron. They were shot down and killed off Cherbourg by a Bf 109 of JG 27 at 18:20hrs.

    Sgt J.R.Cowsill was on patrol with No 56 Squadron in a Hurricane (N2432) on the 13th of July 1940. He was shot down and killed over Calais by a Bf 109 of JG 51 at 16:45hrs.

    F/O P.A.N.Cox of No 501 Squadron on patrol in his Hurricane I (P3808) was shot down and killed by a Bf 109 off Dover on the 27th of July 1940 at 17:45hrs.

    P/O J.Cruttenden joined No 43 Squadron in late June. He baled safely out of a Hurricane I on the 9th of July after attacking a Do 17 near Beachy Head. He was shot down in combat ten miles south of the Isle of Wight on the 8th of August 1940 at 16:45hrs in his Hurricane I (P3781) and reported as "Missing", aged 20.

    Sgt A.G.Curley was a gunner in a Defiant of No 141 Squadron. On the 19th of July 1940 he and his pilot (R.A.Howley) were on convoy patrol. Their Defiant (L6995) was shot down by a Bf 109 of JG 51 at 12:45hrs and they were both killed .

    P/O W.G.Dickie joined No 601 Squadron in June 1940. Dickie shot down a Do17 on the 7th of July. After combat on the 11th of August 1940 in his Hurricane I (L2057) off Portland, Dickie was posted M.I.A., aged 24.

    Sgt M.P.Digby-Worsley of No 248 Squadron was killed on the 19th of August 1940 he was the pilot of a Blenheim IVf (L9457). He and his crew W.H.Want and the pilot Sgt J.H.Round were on a recce of the Norwegian coast and they failed to return.

    Sgt William Laurence Dymond joined No 111 Squadron in May 1940. He was credited with 10 kills and he shared in several other kills and was awarded the D.F.M.. He was shot down and killed on the 2nd of September 1940 at 12:50hrs. He had been in combat with a Bf 109 over the Thames estuary in his Hurricane I (P3875).

    Sgt Douglas William Elcome of No 602 Squadron was reported M.I.A. when he failed to return from patrol in his Spitfire I (R6839) on the 26th of October 1940.His body was never recovered. Earlier that summer Douglas was flying a Spitfire I which crash-landed. He was knocked unconscious and hospitalised for a short while. He insisted on going back to flying and was accepted. However, on returning from patrol on the 26th of October 1940 he appeared to black out or go unconscious and his plane crashed into the sea off Selsey Bill. It was conjectured that this might have occurred because of his earlier crash.

    Sgt H.D.B.Elsdon from No 236 Squadron along with his pilot C.R.D.Thomas in a Blenheim (L6779) were shot down and killed over Le Harve by a Bf 109 from JG 2 at 12:15hrs on the 18th of July 1940. They were on a photo reconnaissance.

    Sgt P.R.Eyles of No 92 Squadron was on patrol in his Spitfire I (N3248) and became the second victory of W.Mölders on the 20th of September 1940 when he was shot down and killed off Dungeness at 11:35hrs.

    F/Lt F.W.Flood an Australian of No 235 Squadron was flying escort to Fairey Albacores on the 11th of September 1940 in a Blenheim IV-f (L9396). The Fairey Albacores from the Fleet Air Arm were on a raid on Calais at 17:30hrs and the Blenheim IV-f (L9396) flown by F/Lt F.W.Flood was shot down by a Bf 109. F/Lt F.W.Flood and his crew all died on the mission (N.B.Shorrocks & B.R.Sharp).

    Son of George Ernest Gore, and of Edith Gore, of Brighton, Sussex. B.Sc. (Durham).

    F/L W.E.Gore was in France with No 607 Squadron, flying Hurricane's. W.E.Gore lead a section which intercepted and shot down three He 111's over France during May and was awarded a D.F.C. on the 31st of May 1940. F/L W.E.Gore joined No 54 Squadron on the 6th of August but stayed with them for only a month he then returned to No 607 Squadron. He was shot down by an Bf 109 over Selsey and crashed his Hurricane I (P3108) into the Channel and was recorded as M.I.A. on the 28th of September 1940 at 15:00hrs, aged 25.
