Glad you've joined in Tony, I was going to inform you that someone else has the same interest as you. Are you getting excited yet? We are!!

Roger, are you the same chap who runs the BSA FB page?

Dear Roger, I have send to you some pictures taken recently in and around Doom and 5846.

Hi Tony, Denis in fact lived in Worcester and BSA no longer have a recoed of his widow, and believe that was the last in the family.

    Hello Raj,

I have recieved those photos and they are very interesting indeed. I am still trying to decipher my father's handwriting - not an easy job _ and may well take you up on your very kind offer.

    Hello Lionboxer,

I am the same! It was originally started as a diary for the Birmingham Branch only, but I have had so many requests for help that I decided to let it grow and it has become more interesting - I hope.

    Best wishes to all

    Roger

Well it all started here!! Back in September Lionboxer said "why don't you come with me?" to Imphal and Kohima. Unfortunately I could not do the dates he went but I've just got back from Imphal where I spent ten days with Raj, Bobby and the team. The highlight was a trip along the Silchar Track and up Point 5846 where we laid a wreath of poppies supplied by Roger Neal and the Burma Star Branch in Birmingham. This was in commemoration of the men of the 1st Northamptons who did not come back.
Some of the photos are here: https://www.facebook.com/tony.honeyman.9/media_set?set=a.1465619460340732.1073741833.100006780751855&type=1

We planned a second trip to try to find Water Picquet and to go around to Dome but there was a 'bandh' declared and the road was blocked in protest so Raj, Bobby and the team will try at another time. Instead we walked/climbed up Nunshigum.

A big thank you to Raj, Bobby and the team who are doing a great job to raise the local awareness of the fighting around Imphal. Not many people locally realise what went on but that is changing!

Hopefully it won't end here Skoyen89, we have more work to do to raise the awareness of the general public here too. I agree with you that Raj, Bobby and the team are doing terrific work out in Manipur and must be congratulated for it. Veteran members of Birmingham branch of BSA are being kept up to date with events in Manipur and are keenly interested.

I have really enjoyed following your journey via t'internet it has been almost as good as being there myself .............. almost

For those who may be interested I have an excerpt of a memoir by Ted Wright which covers his time in Burma with 1st Northamptonshire Regiment 1944.

It is too big to upload here as one file so if anyone wishes to read it, PM me an email address and I will forward it to you.
