Bathtub Sponson above Bridge of HMS Hermes 95

    Apologies if this isn’t the correct terminology but it’s the best description I can give it. There is a bathtub like sponson above the bridge of HMS Hermes 95, does anyone know what it was used for?

    What's interesting is if you look at the design plans for the Hermes, it doesn't show up in the intitial plans including the 1918 revision. So it was obviously a late edition probably in 1920 after input from operations on Eagle and Argus resulted in modifications to the island :
