Hi all I've a group of medals and quite a bit of paperwork to a Lt. Lewis Mowbray Rutgers McLaglen. Among the papers are an obituary to Lt. Colonel McLaglen as well as a document purportedly signed by the Governor General of the Sudan on 5 March 1942 addressing McLaglen as El Bimbashi. It reads like a commission document. According to the LG this chap who fought in both wars never made it beyond Lt. Would the Bambashi rank (allegedly equivalent to Major) have been recognised? Any info on this chap and what the SDF got up to be would be appreciated. Regards Rory
