Today 173 years ago this caused terrible things among people in County Galway, to put it mildly.

I thing in the rest of Europe, this is pretty unknown.

What do you guys know anout it?

    Stefan.

Stefan, whilst it might be amusing to trawl through the depths of history, I am really only interested in this site for WW2 related issues, not dredging up incidents from the past 2,000 odd years.

Why settle on Ballinlass (or Ballinglass as the Irish seem to have it, when it was one incident of many thousand in the Irish Famine, and why not the Highland clearances, or the Vikings massacring monks and the native population, or ask the Italians about what the Romans did?

I don't open your postings in the general scheme of things, but simply posting one incident and asking "What do you guys know of it?" I can tell you - "Nothing" and why should we?

Of course, other Pals may feel differently
