    Hi There,

I am trying to find out more about events surrounding a former RAF member who was awarded/requested the Caterpillar Club Badge.

    The chap in question is:

    Flight Sergeant A.G. Lees.

    Possible Canadian.

He appears that he was a member of the Caterpillar Club after two bale outs (29.01.1943 and 10.11.1943).

    Can anyone help???????

Can confirm he was Canadian, one of his bale-outs was on return from ops to Lorient 29/30th Jan 43 with 424sqdn, he was on board Wellington BK436 which was abandoned after running out of fuel. The aircraft crashed near Winterslow.
    Sgt R.M. Buie, RCAF.
    P/O K.C.E. Wade.
    Sgt L.K. Taylor, RCAF.
    Sgt H.R. Cook.
    Sgt A.G. Lees, RCAF.
    Sgt H.L. Davis.

2nd was on night of 10/11th April 43, again with 424sqdn, Wellington HE159, ops to Frankfurt, developed engine trouble, crew ordered to bale out, but Sgt Lees only just made it and left the a/c at 600ft. Aircraft crashed at Rolvenden, Kent. Sgt Lees, on landing, tried several times to rescue his crewmates but was beaten back by the flames and heat, he was the only one to survive.
    Sgt R.M. Buie, RCAF.
    P/O R.W. Thompson.
    F/Sgt L.K. Taylor, RCAF.
    Sgt A.W. Kimmerly, RCAF.
    Sgt A.G. Lees, RCAF.

    From Chorley, vol 4.
