Just reading war diaries for 73rd anti tank.
List of batteries says as following..

    10 officers
    191 O R's
    12 crusaders
    12 17 prs
    9 carriers
    7 motor cycles
    31 'B' Vehicles

Can anyone tell me what 'B' vehicles means, is just any other transport, or something more specific?

    In general there were:
'A' vehicles which were armoured fighting vehicles.
'B' vehicles which were almost everything else from motorcycles upwards and including light reconnaissance vehicles, armoured trucks and halftracks.
'C' vehicles which were specialist engineer equipment.

Until 1942 there were also 'RASC' vehicles but these became 'B' vehicles.

In general, any vehicle other than armour (which were 'A' vehicles). 'Softskins' thus. 'B' vehicles usually include motorcycles.

Edit :- Mike's answer is of course much more complete and accurate than mine....(and he was quicker !)
