Military Medal - Sicily

This N.C.O's section was allotted the task of bringing up ammunition and stores at the landing on CAP PASSARO on 10th July, 1943. When an unforeseen hitch occurred L/Cpl. Taylor's section was hurriedly ordered to attack a machine gun post that threatened to hold up the landing. He took his new and unrehearsed role with speed and dash and led his men into a fierce attack with grenade and bayonet. The enemy post was quickly knocked out and several prisoners taken. Only then did L/Cpl. Taylor resume his original role. His quick thinking and bold leadership helped materially in the success of the landing.

Bar to Military Medal

This NCO was a section commander in the battalion area near ESCOVILLE on 18th June 1944. Cpl Taylor took part in an attack through dense wooded country and was wounded in the shoulder. Regardless of his injury he pressed home the attack and was personally responsible for taking out a mortar crew of five men. His courageous example and high standard of leadership were an inspiration to all who saw him.
