    Slipdigit Old Hickory Recon

Mine is the shoulder patch of the US 30th Infantry Division, "Old Hickory." Used in honor of my dear friend, Marion M. Sanford, who fought with the division as a member of its 30th Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop (Mechanized). We published his autobiography last year, Old Hickory Recon, Memories of the 30th Infantry Division, 1943-1945.

    Yes you can Andy.

I try not to order more until I have at least read all those I have. It does not work though as people keep sending me them. (I appreciate it really).

I did not choose an avatar. The Adaministrator did. Thanks Adam. It is easy to spot and pretty self explanatory.

Mine depicts the badge of the Maritime Royal Artillery, which my grandfather served in.

"The Maritime Artillery Regiment was part of the Royal Artillery (RA) and raised to serve as gunners on Merchant ships known as DEMS (Defensively Equiped Merchant Ships). The Royal Navy also supplied "DEMS" Gunners as well as a number of merchant Navy crews being trained in gunnery.

On the upper sleeve of the battle dress a square badge of a red anchor on blue was worn, initially with the white letters AA either side of the anchor, this was later changed to RA. On the shoulder some wore a red on blue Royal Artillery curved shoulder title either woven or printed but others did'nt! All wore the blue and red RA arm of service flash."
