" Mengele: The Complete Story ". Anyone actually read this one yet? Got an opinion, please? It's on my Amazon Wish List ~ purely as a reminder to myself. Only, I have so many books and DVD's backing up here, I'm trying to 'filter' my time takers.

" Auschwitz - The Nazis and the Final Solution " (DVD) is another that's caught my eye. Anyone?

" The Nazis - A Warning From History " (DVD). As good as Samuel West normally sounds?

I'm gagging to grab these. I should also point out that I haven't been near a tv in a quarter century. Even then, I had no compelling interest in 'The War'. But, now ~ thanks to you lot! ~ I'm really becoming quite obsessive!

    Bloody Great, isn't it?

" Auschwitz - The Nazis and the Final Solution " (DVD)
" The Nazis - A Warning From History " (DVD).

    Both are excellent.
The CGI of the gas chambers and cremation umits rising from the ground/ ruins whilst being impressive do not "take over" from the actual accounts of survivors and the film footage shot from the air which shows the camp to be what it was.

"The Nazis A warning" from History is also worth seeing - it describes what the Nazi state was and some of the misheld beliefs about it - far from being a well run and ordered stste it was chaos and disaorder - goverment run by Darwinism , fights and competition , waste and extravagance.
The "social engineering" and "reeducation" show that Hitler came at a price - the destruction of German culture and society was his cost - he redefined everything and presented it as being "German" and "bad Germans" knew what happened to them - coply or else.
One to see before Auschwitz as it paves the way to it .
Both books are also a good read.
(Ron said he was reading T.N.A.W.F.H.)

BTW - Irving's website in his "letters page" has an observation from some saying that Oscar Groening the SS man interviewed when he addresses the public on thesubject of "revisionists" does not mention gas chambers on recreamation pits and prisoner selection.
This is taken as a sign that there were "no gas chambers" or that it is open to question.
The gentlemn making the observation ignores Groening's other comments whioch leave you in no doubt what Birkenau's purpose was.

The thin end of the wedge - that which led to Treblinka and Birkenau.

Will give you an insight into the two productions.

:) Excellent! That'll do for me then, James. I'll order them tonight. Especially like the tip about watching TNAWFH first. Only I'm now wondering where my " Shame of a Nation " set should fit in? Last, maybe? As I believe it's largely film of the liberation of Auschwitz?

" Revisionists " ? I really couldn't give a flying f*ck what they have to say, James. Whilst I 'respect' their right to hold and voice their own opinions, I equally maintain my own right to consider ~ and pronounce ~ certain people as c***s, in My view. Revisionists who try to deny the Gas Chambers are right up there with Ingrid Newkirk in my listing of OBE award candidates.

(" OBE " = One Behind the Ear!)

Looks like you got a volume of the Wehrmachtsberichte (reports from the OKW)... As far as I remember it's what they (officially) announced on the radio ("das OKW gibt bekannt") during the war. They've been reprinted by the way.
