    Hi:

In thought I would inform everyone that Audie Murphy was finally posthumously awarded the Texas Legislative Medal of Honor by Governor Perry.
Please take a moment to read the article that I authored for the transparency in government website watchdogwire.com.
This is a very detailed article pertaining to the campaign to award Murphy the supreme military honor of Texas.
I think you might be struck by the oddity and absurdity of the events outlined in the final paragraph.

Dave, consider posting this at WW2f.com. It is more oriented toward the US contribution to the war than this fine board.

    Dave,

    Thanks for the post.

Nothing about Politicians surprises me any more, but personally I do not believe that Audie Murphy has passed into obscurity!

    Tom!

I thought perhaps you might emnjoy seeing a video of the award ceremony, albeit that this is a UK/Commonwealth website.

Audie Murphy, America's "most decorated" soldier of WWII was posthumously awarded the Texas Legislative Medal of Honor by Texas Governor Rick Perry in his hometown of Farmersville, Texas, 29 October, 2013.
Accepting the award was Murphy's sole surviving sister Nadine Murphy-Lockey.
Here is a video of the award ceremony and rendering of the award presided over by Governor Perry.
Murphy's sister also addresses those in attendance.

    Dave,

Glad to see this recognition after such a length of time. An extremely brave man. Such a sad way to leave this earth, with so much more living still to do.

    Thanks Tom!
I appreciate the watch. It was a much deserved posthumous honor. Nadine is indeed a great lady and friend, and she really stole the show (with no notes I might add) from the Governor.

    Thanks again,

    Dave

    Dave,

I did not want to mention Politics, but you are absolutely correct in stating that she completely stole the Show and really spoke from the Heart.

I really must try and purchase a DVD of Audie Murphys film "To Hell and Back".

    Regards
    Tom

    Tom,

No problem about the political angle. She really did steal the show! Hope you can find a copy of To Hell and Back. It's always refreshing to watch that classic.
Also adding another separate post to this thread. Please see it there. Hopefully you will be impressed by the fine outpouring of support for that next initiative. It has been a work in progress and not easy to accomplish. When you read the post I think you'll realize what I am talking about.

    Thanks,

    Dave

As many are aware I spearheaded the successful effort to posthumously bestow upon Audie Murphy with Texas Legislative Medal of Honor. That award was presented to his sister last month. It was the culmination of a three year effort.
Now our longest campaign, which lasted four years, is drawing to an end. That campaign is a petition effort to award Audie Murphy America's highest civilian honor, the U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom.
It is awarded for significant cultural or meritorious contributions to America or for those who have contributed significantly to the peace and security of America.
Murphy's nomination will not be based upon his military service during the war or for his Hollywood film career, but rather for his openness and advocacy towards veteran healthcare and in particular PTSD.
The petition to award him this honor is still available for signing electronically but is being brought to a close in December.
    It may be found here:

For additional information on Murphy and his personal battle with PTSD, please read this article which I penned recently for a national political website. It covers with direct quotes from Murphy his constant and continuous fight against this debilitating disease as well as his triumph over adversity.

The petition has been hand signed by dignitaries, statesman, military officials, medal of honor recipients and celebrities too numerous to mention.
Our video which through photo montage shows the all of the many VIP's who have signed our petition is located here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v466VgpzA2I

It includes more than 100 flag officers representing every level and branch of service spanning seven decades as well as more than 50 of the nations' living 78 Medal of Honor recipients.

    Thanks,

Managed to order a "To Hell and Back" DVD, which arrived just before Christmas.

Audie still looks Young 10-11 years later.
