My mother was in the ATS and served, inter alia, on searchlights (or it may have been ack ack guns) and radar (she trained at Oswestry) She ended up as a sergeant major (outranking my father !) Can anyone tell me whether ATS were given service numbers, and whether their records would be available as they are for regular forces.
