    Jenny Jones travelled from Canada with her husband and step son to lay a wreath on the slipway at Killadeas to remember her grandfather and F/lt. Edward Muffit , who until joining the RCAF was a member of the RCMP.

    He was lost on 2/11/43 along with his crew when they crashed off Donegal whilst on an Operational Flying Exercise.
    It is thought that a DC dropped exploded prematurely and brought their Catalina down. ( FP120).

    The crew ;
    F/O Kenneth Hipwell , Sgt Harold E. Scarman , Sgt Peter P Bacon,
    Sgt Cyril Barraclough , Sgt James Male , Sgt Charles E. Poots,
    Sgt Albert Upton . ( All RAF).
    F/lt. Edward E Muffit (RCAF).
    This was one of two Catalians 131 lost in NOvember 43 , it too FTR from an OFE.

    A private event this was arranged with the kind help and consideration of the Lough Erne Yauth Club which operates from what was the slipway area of Killadeas close to the manor House Hotel . ( The war time officer's mess).
    My friend , local historian oe O'Loughlin from Belleek made the arrangem,ents with the club.

    Hello.
    I have recently come across some pictures from that belonged to my Uncle. Sgt G T Padden who was MIA in 1942 on his first operational mission. There are a few pictures of the pilot from this aircraft Kenneth(Ken Hipwell) would they be of any interest to your research
    Thanks
    Graham
