Suprised to find 'Op Plunder' (realy the 2nd part of Veritable), gun state wise was bigger than 'Veritable' itself.

The "Hitler" line in the Liri Valley of Italy was changed to the "Senger" in "honour" (sic) of the Commander of the X1V, Panzer Corps Gen. Fridolin von Senger und Etterlin as Hitler knew that they were about to be clobbered and didn't want his name to be associated with defeat !

von Senger was an honourable man who did an amazing job in holding back two armies for six months in defence of the Abbey of St. Benedict of which he was a member of the Third Order of St.Benedict !

    Cheers

5.5-inch guns of 235 and 336 Medium Batteries, Royal Artillery, line up to fire in support of the Rhine crossing, three days prior to ZERO hour. Heavy artillery supported the Allied 21st Army Group crossing of the Rhine during the predawn hours of March 24, 1945.

Wheel to wheel? I have often wondered about this photo. I always thought the artillery for Plunder was carefully camouflaged and concealed before the Operation started. Indeed, I have photos of 11th Medium and their guns are all partially concealed, if not actually dug in. They are also not wheel to wheel!

Is this really a photo showing calibration about to take place? Not sure...
