I've just obtained a copy of a 6 page document entitled "Artillery Code, 1941, Instructions of Encoding and Decoding". It certainly answers a number of questions I had about how the code was used. Would anyone be interested in my scanning it and posting on the site? Phil
I reckon that's a fine idea Phil. The more documentation accessible online, the more the overall story becomes clearer.
I think you should transcribe it. Only 6 pages. Easier for search engines to find that stuff then. Now I'm not gonna insist or suggest that. It's entirely up to chaps whever they want to put up Jpegs or transcriptions. Both are great. But it is perhaps worth reinforcing that Owen makes a bloody good point there. - If anybody wants to potentially attract more chaps that might share their interests, and hopefully help further their research; a transcription with all it's specialised or unit terminology is more likely to catch the attention of passing Googlers.
OK Guys, I'm happy to transcribe the text, but the three pages of encoding chart will be easier to scan so I'll do a bit of both, I'll try and get them on here as soon as possible. Phil
Guys Here is the whole 6 page document scanned in, sorry, I got lazy and chickened out of typing it out. Hope you find it of help, it certainly explained a few things to me. I'll attach them in seperate messages to make sure they all come through. Phil
Here's the rest of the pages, if they are too small or you want better scans, please PM me with an e-mail address and I'll send them through direct. Phil
