This is fun , we need a Sherlock Holmes to find out what has happened here As one of the Pipers in the Massed Pipes and Drums hope this info helps. The Massed band was made up from: Pipes & Drums of the Highlanders (4th Bn Royal Regiment of Scotland) Pipes & Drums of the Kings Own Scottish Borderers (1st Bn Royal Regiment of Scotland) Pipes & Drums of Glenmorriston Pipes & Drums of the city of Rochester Pipes & Drums of the Devon & Somerset Fire Rescue (this included The North Devon Pipes and Drums and The Kernow Pipes and Drums from Cornwall) This was the list that we were given and I am sure all were represented. The Massed Pipes and Drums played the following: Friday 18th : March through Arnhem during the afternoon. This was minus the Devon and Somerset Band who were delayed by heavy traffic in Belgium and Holland. March over John Frost Bridge and service. (Full band) Saturday 19th: Ginkel Heath during the early afternoon Vitesse Arnhem Stadium during half time of game in evening. Sunday 20th : March to Oosterbroek cemetery. The Massed Pipes and Drums did not play at Nijmegen. Any pictures of the massed bands would be great to see. Thanks.
Thanks Medic. They look a bit young. D'you think they are serving soldiers in semi-plain clothes? A lot of serving soldier are who are not attending remembrance services etc in an official capacity are turning up in Blazers Regimental ties & Berets.
Thanks a lot, Robjenx. Very helpful indeed. Here are all the photos I have. 1-4 at the Ginkel Heath, Saturday. 5-12 Oosterbeek, Sunday. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think 1-4 are the Dutch Pegasus band. I hope I've got you somewhere in 5-12. Any further identification gratefully received. Bart

Bart Bart, thanks very much for putting the photos on. As for the identification: I think your are correct about pics 1-4. Pic 5 is four members of the Kernow Pipes and Drums from Cornwall, Three wearing Cornish Hunting Tartan and one standard Cornish Tartan. Pic 6 I think is the Glenmoriston Pipe Band Pic 7 is the Drum Major and a Piper from the North Devon Pipes and Drums Pic 8 is the massed bands, I am the second black jacket back, behind the three green jackets in the middle of the photo. Pics 10 to 12 are mainly of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. The Blue Tartan in Pic 12 is the Royal Air Force Tartan but the piper was with the Kernow Pipes and Drums. Hope this helps and thanks again. We all had a great time and the hospitality and friendship shown towards us was fantastic.
I have added some nice youtube videos made by Henk Peelen to my site. Got 5 DVD's from him with pics and movies from the anniversary, free for distribution. operation_market_garden_2009 He made nice compilations from the Hymnes of England, Poland and Holland, see yourself. Ron
