Post war the IDF used Me109s I believe flown by ex USAAF pilots there was an instance of the IDF shooting down RAF Spitfires with these I recall a magazine article on this and how the IDF acquired its early airforce including a B17 .

MG42 (or later variant) 'somewhere in Africa'.
I can't help feeling there may be something missing though. ;)

Brilliant! Good posing power but somewhat of a short range weapon. Looks as though it might have been used as a club.

Not sure that the Vickers machine gun is still in service anywhere (wouldn't surprise me), but that must have been in service from the First World War until at least the late 60s in the british army.

Other than weapons, arty, tanks, etc being recycled, a lot of army surplus, mainly vehicles, somehow found their way into the black market.... and as a result there were many people in England (and elsewhere) who made a fortune from it.. And of course none of them ever put on a uniform and "did their bit"

"Sweden’s AB Bofors manufacturing company flooded the world with its famous rapid-fire 40-mm anti-aircraft gun prior to the Second World War; it was widely used throughout the conflict by both the Allies and the Axis. Production continued after the war and since 2005, modernized derivatives of the Bofors gun have been manufactured by BAE Systems."

BRP Quezon of the Philippine Navy. Laid down in the US as HMS Exploit in 1942 but then kept by the USN as USS Vigilance. Saw service during the Pacific campaign, including at Okinawa.
Transferred to the Philippines in 1967 and still in service now.

Right. M60 is gas and piston operated and MG42 is delayed lock recoil operated.

Don't pic on Brad, he was quoting an older post by morse.
    Army Surplus.
The quotes have been lost over the years & software changes so it looks like he made the original comment.
Though I'd like to know what a ''mp42'' is :)
