Post war the IDF used Me109s I believe flown by ex USAAF pilots there was an instance of the IDF shooting down RAF Spitfires with these I recall a magazine article on this and how the IDF acquired its early airforce including a B17 .

Brilliant! Good posing power but somewhat of a short range weapon. Looks as though it might have been used as a club.
Not sure that the Vickers machine gun is still in service anywhere (wouldn't surprise me), but that must have been in service from the First World War until at least the late 60s in the british army. Chris
Other than weapons, arty, tanks, etc being recycled, a lot of army surplus, mainly vehicles, somehow found their way into the black market.... and as a result there were many people in England (and elsewhere) who made a fortune from it.. And of course none of them ever put on a uniform and "did their bit"

BRP Quezon of the Philippine Navy. Laid down in the US as HMS Exploit in 1942 but then kept by the USN as USS Vigilance. Saw service during the Pacific campaign, including at Okinawa. Transferred to the Philippines in 1967 and still in service now. Photo taken in 2007.
quite recent Paraguay is putting World War II-era M3 Stuarts and M4 Sherman tanks back into service. The country is thought to have three Shermans medium tanks and up to fourteen Stuart light tanks in its inventory.
