    Hi Folks,

I am helping a member of the public with a bit of research regarding a RNAS/British Army veteran that settled here in New Zealand in his later years. Little is known about him and there are some pretty fantastic sounding stories. What is known is that at one stage he served with the RNAS Armoured Cars in Russia during WWI. It is also known that he was later posted to the Royal Engineer's 3rd Bridging Bn as a 2nd Lt and is later again mentioned in the London Gazette as being given an Emergency Commission from the ranks in 1948. With his apparent service spanning two services and several decades my question to you rather more experienced people than I is:

Will his service records be all held at the National Archives at Kew by virtue of his WWI service and age (he died in 1982), or will only the WWI component of his records be held there, with the records of his later army service obtainable from the MOD?

Thanks for any advice you can give.
