    Hi,

The nearest living relative is still able to claim WW2 medals as far as I am aware.

If it is not prying too much what is the stupid rule you refer to? Has your mother had it in writing?

She may be getting fobbed off by the Army Medal
    Office.

The info you have posted is fine but there may be more detailed info on the "missing" forms.

I would echo the comments about chasing up the AFB 103's.

    Regards

No it doesn't mean that the records you have put up aren't any good.
You mentioned in your first post about the Suffolk Regt and X list etc-I cannot see that information anywhere from the records you have uploaded.

    (For other members- info:
    Home 20/8/42 to 8/8/44
    NWE 9/8/44 to 2/9/44 (nearly 2 months)
    Home 3/9/44 to 21/12/44
Discharged permanently unfit for any form of military service 21/12/44)

Only unit I can see mentioned is transferred to Essex Regiment on 30/9/42

Tullybrone - I'm sure my mum said something about the medals along the lines of it has to be the oldest blood line of the oldest relative or something like that - which means my cousin. Is that not right?? My mum is one of two, but my uncle (her brother) died a couple of years ago.

I think it's possible my mam hasn't scanned in everything she had, as I have certainly seen something about Suffolk Regiment. I'll have to give her a tinkle tomorrow and see exactly what else she has. What can you tell me about what I've already posted??

If the Army do have a B103 for my GF, are we likely to have to pay again to get them to send that, too?? Mam's already paid thirty notes for the info we have.

What is/was the Essex Regiment?? Is NWE as we thought, North West Europe??

    Hi,

Your uncle would have been entitled to claim the medals when he was alive as the eldest child.

When he died the entitlement did not pass to his eldest child it passes to your mother as the remaining child of your grandfather.

You shouldn't have to pay more if MOD find the Active Service Casualty Form(s) AKA AF B103.

NWE is North West Europe. Have you searched google for Essex Regiment?
