Can anybody assist with this please and does it mean employed but in the TA, plus the date does that mean when joined? Picture from Fold3 thank you
I don't know about the (empld.) part, but the date in the Army List usually indicates Seniority, i.e. the date the individual became promoted to the Rank indicated. In your attachment, see for example Hunt, F. R. W., who has two dates corresponding to two different ranks. Michel
Hi Michel is right, it indicates seniority which would dictate future prmotions. For the empld, look in the front of that book for abbreviations, I doubt it means employed. regards Robert
N.B. this is not the 261248 Reginald Arthur Hunter that you were searching for in your Halsham War Memorial assistance please thread. He wasn’t commissioned 2nd Lieutenant until 13 December 1942: Page 646 | Supplement 35890, 2 February 1943 | Lond...
The abbreviation I believe is empaneled i.e. added to the list. Commonly used when dealing with jury selection.
