Are we allowed WW1 pith helmets as well ?

Nita's very proud of her dad who was in the 38th Batallion Royal Fusiliers and part of the Jewish Legion who served in Palestine.

Her dad is the good looking chap in the back row, second from the right.

Found this on the British Pathe site. Video filmed during the First Arakan Campaign in 1943.With number 55 this should be carriers of the 1st Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, from 14th Indian Division (there is also a possibility that they were from 1st Royal Scots, 6th Infantry Brigade, 2nd British Infantry Division. 1st RS was attached from 4th Infantry Brigade were it was senior unit and as such also used number 55 for markings on its vehicles, but IMHO they probably belonged to Inniskillings).

Another one from Burma. Bren Carrier of 4/5th Mahratta Light Infantry from 23rd Indian Division, filmed somewhere in the area of Assam-Burma border, I guess during late 1942 or 1943 (website doesn't give date but soldiers in the film still wear KD uniforms instead JG).

The very epitome of the well turned out and equipped fighting man. Great stuff.

    Yes... Imagine... Corrr...
Tribesmen used to flee at the very sight of this fine titfer you know.

Do/did the RM wear a Pith-like lid with their No.1s? Or is it just the band?
Maybe they should be tasked to reach into their stores & spread the sartorial word?
