Found this in the Feb 1942 war diary of 1 R.M. A.A. Bde soon after they had arrived in Ceylon (ADM 202/149):

Appendix “C”

HEADQUARTERS,
1 R.M., A.A. BDE.
COLOMBO, 7 FEB. 42.

Inspection of R.M.A.A. Units by H.E. The Governor.

The following routine will be carried out:-

H.E. The Governor will be met outside the Colombo Club by G.O.C., Comd 99 Inf. Bde., Comd. R.M. A.A., Bde.

2. H.E., will be escorted to a position in front of the Guard. As soon as he is on the grass, guard will give the Royal Salute and band play National Anthem.

3. On completion of Royal Salute, guard will be brought to the “Slope” G.S.O.I (Lt. Col. Green) will then be called forward and H.E. will invest him with O.B.E.

4. H.E. will then inspect the guard and guns, Bofors last. Lieut. Perry-Ellis will explain the firing mechanism of the Bofor and H.E. will fire one of the guns. The other Bofors will fire a clip each simultaneously.

9 February 1942 COLOMBO
a.m. H.E. the Governor of CEYLON, accompanied by C-in-C, East Indies, G.O.C., CEYLON and Colonel C.T. Brown, O.B.E., Commander 1st R.M. A.A. Bde., inspected troops of “B” and “C” Btys and of “A” Troop, 22 Light Bty, on Galle Face Green. Appx ‘C’
After inspection of troops and guns, a volley of 16 rounds was fired to sea by ‘A’ troop, H.E. the Governor firing 4 rounds from one Bofor. Turn out and drill of troops was commended by H.E.
