    I totally agree, Adam.
There is so much going on - tennis court, big wide brimmed hats for the ladies, mix of hats for the men and children, looks to be a good number of moustaches, and surely a candidate for the (currently non-existent) thread 'how many people can you get on a big rocky mound in India(?)'.

    Argh.
I just had to like a colourised picture.

Since my initial reaction was an out loud & impressed 'Oh, f-ing hell' it seems only fair.

Crop out the sea and, hey presto, it's a good old fashioned sepia print :)

Adam will like this one: splendid collection of Helmets, hats, and turbans, Lances, drum, and sword etc, moustaches and superb beards, and with John Bull and Britannia included for good measure.
    Spotted on Facebook this morning.

  11. Aren't those italians? They didn't capture anything in Eritrea. So B 4th RTR after Battleaxe? European camo like B did had in Eritrea.

I'm not a uniform buff, so didn't even think about the men. Terrain is very different to anything near the Egypt-Libyan border. If they are Italians then I would say Crete, and the tank is from 7 RTR.

    All the best

Iwo Jima - men of 31st Naval Construction Battalion using a bulldozer and rooter to dig out a bunker/cave at the end of Airstrip 1. When they dug out one, they would move onto the next .... and the next .... and the next .....
