Another wonderful British in India album on eBay recently.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/c1937-North-West-Frontier-Force-Photo-Album-Ops-in-Mahsud-British-Indian-Army-/141354346976?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=oz5BlqzRw12c6eLkA7rzAP6zsm8%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Captioned 6th Royal Battalion (Scinde) 13th Frontier Force Rifles and accredited to a Lt Col.Bunbury, I feel that the buyer got quite a bargain.

    Well-composed images too.

...and one for Adam from the above album. I'm not sure if he's using a cigarette holder but the cane and sunglasses together with the well-practised disdainful look put him right up there with the eternal symbols of Empire. School bully if you ask me !

I can't believe that this was as recent as 1937...within living memory and yet a world away.

    From my Fathers journal.

Not a Pic just a comment on what 5 RHA felt about pith helmets on arrival in Egypt.

We drew our Guns, quads, soft trucks etc.and at the first concentration point dug a huge hole and buried our pith helmets, it had been a Court Martial offence not to wear them for the past 7 weeks!

"Now then, chaps. I want you all to look... 'searchy', lots of scanning the horizon & shielding eyes from the blazing desert sun.
And if we could have as many Lewis guns as possible in the front car for that 'bristling' look, that'd be lovely.
    Aaaand; action!"

Armoured cars?? Armed certainly, but they do not look very armoured to me.

I thought we were all choosing to ignore that as the helmets & Lewis guns just looked so damned sporty.
