Hi, I came across these photos some time back and I have been trying to identify where the picture was taken. Its a small convoy, two Armoured Cars and two trucks, I am thinking possible 1920's? Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance KR James
The pictures are taken in Commercial Road, East London. See attached for Dickeson, Tobacconist & News Agent, 478 Commercial Road. The Dickesons seem to have been there since around 1920 and the attached is 1938 TD
General Strike 1926, escorting a food convoy from the docks. Commercial Road led to the East India Docks.
Thanks everyone, that all falls into place now, my Great Grandfather ran Barnes Transport from Glasshouse fields, just off the highway in East London and was living in Ratcliff at the time, so would of seen these transports coming and going, they were in with some old family photos, but I could not find any obvious connection. Once again big thank you. KR James
