Ill be flat out honest i offered to bring a HIGHLY decorated american vet into the forum but after some of the snotty ass comments and additudes i basicly told him dont bother.... This site is entirely too british oreintated and I dunno i saw nothing in when i first checked this site it was By brits for Brits.. im sure ill catch hell for this OH WELL
This is the "Are you Anti-German" thread, the "Are you Anti-American" thread is elsewhere. Most people here are Brits or from the Commonwealth, but no one is blamed for being something else: I myself am Portuguese and my country didn't even join in the war on either side, others are American (yes), Italians, Spaniards, Russians, Bulgarians, Filipinos, etc, etc.

As has been said I think we're all Anti-Nazi but not necessarily Anti German. I would like to think that all are welcome and feel welcome.

    That's basically it, yes.

There is no excuse for the SS and it's sub-organisations, while attitudes and behaviours of those belonging to the Wehrmacht itself were tainted by the fact that a significant part had transited through the Hitlerjugend and then the RAD, which provided for their political and behavioural indoctrination under a criminal regime.

Six decades have passed since, and Germany is reborn as we know. Can I really blame Mr. Scheerer for one who I worked with for whatever his father did? The Scheerer I knew was certainly no nazi.

Ok I have spoke about this with Mike and it was part of the reason we started the Chindit Merills thread in my eyes anyway. I thought us doing stuff on each others nations would put across we can learn from one another and unlike certain forums;) not think no one else turned up in WW2 and as for the German thing I agree with Gages post............. but without the Germans we would not be talking about most the stuff we do. I for one got real pi..ed with attitudes at the forum we dont speak of:D, towards Brits and the 14th Army in Burma I came here because I believe we can make a differance with a forum that can diversify in mant areas of ww2 be they British American or WELSH;)

    marcus69x I love WW2 meah!!!

    perhaps i should just leave....

    Nah mate, why do that?

This forum is about WW2. That means anything related to it. Doesn't matter which country you're from, look at Za, his country wasn't even in the war, yet he's a regular poster.

Besides, I LOVE THE AIRBORNE too. ;)

    Ranger -
On the introduction of this site by google - it has the banner of a "WW2 talk forum with a British and Commonwealth focus" - you must have missed that but then again you appear to have missed a lot, such as you were welcomed and congratulated on your new posting and advised on what to look for in the culture of that area of your posting all without any adverse comments - now you turn and snarl at us for being British - living close to your western border as I do - I can only comment that " you can always tell an American - but not much" !
    Cheers

Tom I have to ask can we really discuss WW2 purely from a BRITISH COMMENWEALTH viewpoint it was a world war after all:confused: I left ww2f because America won the war! dont give Mike the idea we fought the war without America.

Ive came here to give freely information and to LEARN... not to have myself or my country bashed, Well, least i learned about the chindits. ON a side note ya know I have the utmost respect and feverence for ww2 vets BUT IM ALSO A COMBAT VET... and ive gotten zero, did ya realize ive done 3 tours in afghanistan and 2 in iraq. since 9/11/01. before that i was wounded in Somalia and spent almost a year rehabing my leg and fighting to stay in the army. and before that I was in desert shield and desert storm. And my shortest tour of duty was 13 Months... I am INFANTRY Ive been a rilfleman and a grenadier and a fire team leader when i was enlisted. I have been a platoon leader and a Rifle company commander in the paratroops. i wasnt some rear echelon supply clerk. I rarely talk much about Iraq or afghanistan. I have not much good to say,.. But im fed up with this

I wouldn't give him any ideas - he has them all - it's no use him trying to insult me - I've been insulted by experts - and his attempt is puny !

Of course it was a world war and we could not have won it without their capacity and I don't infer that they were idiots as in too many cases - they were same as us at times...
    Cheers

@ Ranger6; what made you that angry? Maybe it would help, if some Americans could post more "US posts" here. I guess that everybody is more or less focussed on particular subjects - as I am to the desert campaign.

Ah, but you're looking at one side of the coin. We developed what was called a 'testicle strategy': "We can cooperate but will not participate directly"

I left ww2f because America won the war! dont give Mike the idea we fought the war without America.

I did not leave WW2F, over and above all my other commitments simply I don't have the time to manage more than one forum at the time. I'd gladly be more than a very occasional lurker at Armchair General who even have a dedicated Soviet section but I do have a life even if it does not look like it :)

Mike, I do believe you are really making a storm in a coffee cup ('tea cup' being more of a Brit and also somewhat g@y thing :D ) and being rather hasty. You are respected such as everyone else here is, much more so due to your combat record. If it were in the 'right war' you would have your name in a different color here, same as other "names".

But we are sidetracking enough already.

Ya know id like to hear from vets of all participants. one thing ive never seen in any ww2 forum is a Japanese vet. and ive not read too much about theyre troops or first person accounts except Samurai By Martin Caidin and Saburo Sakai... about Sakai's exploits as a fighter pilot

Blimey this thread hasn't gone the way I thought it might at all.
    Cheers for the input chaps.
Just thought I'd ask a question of you all just to see what replies I'd get I didn't imagine it'd go where it has.

Ranger6, you are not alone in here with that kind of combat experience. However this is a WW 2 forum.
You know a lot but you still have a bit to learn about humbleness and respect.
