Sorry if this is a duplicate thread, I saw these chaps at war and peace, I suppose I need a soldiers point of view,... My other thread appears to have a fault
what threw me was that one of them when asked by a kid if he could handle his handgun he emptied the magazine and checked the chamber and then handed it over? They then draped themselves around this help for heroes banner, which if the are serving it is ok, if not then it is really sick
I really don't believe they are, there were some PWRR on the Army Recruiting stand but it's not the kind of thing they'd do either. I've seen similar before, including a police ARU wandering around, if not reenactors they're likely to be airsofters.
Looking at that bloated carcass there? The name " Walter " springs easily to mind Why would real soldiers want to wander about in public, wearing desert combats and carrying weapons? What would they be expecting? (Weigh Anchors! )
Soren, I have no expert knowledge on British troops, but to me something just dosen't look 'right' about them. Specially the bloke on the right in the second photo, a little to big for service I would think. I agree with steve on the walking around in public. I know when the Army has a display at a show or such in New Zealand they will be in their combats but won't wear any helmets or webbing and all weapons will be secured on a table in front of them.
Soren do you really need to ask? It's Beltring where grown men dress up & play soldiers. Second from left dressed up as a Yank. http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=18646&d=1248648651
I know that it's a reenactors gig, I just reallly can not get my head around dressing up as present day soldiers, especially as we have lost over 20 this month, why don't they sign up for the real thing? They have all the kit, probably got their own helicopter too. I know that they were collecting for 'Help for Heroes' however something stinks collecting for a soldiers who are doing it for real whilst they 'play' at it during the weekends.
When I was a kid I used to play Cowboys and Indians. I used to shout "Bang, Bang" a lot. Not KGB and enemies of the state? You surprise me old friend.
If these gents are reenactors I do have to agree with Soren - it is not something which should really be done - this country is at war and is losing men and women on an almost daily basis - this is totally inappropriate .
Thanks James S I think reenactors are ok, the ones I talked to at W & P (WW2) were very nice and posed for pictures, these ones made my blood boil, I just couldn't be sure in my head I was thinking this can not be for real?
We do have reenactors up in here aswell, but it is considered bad form to reeanct anything later than WW2.
I just reallly can not get my head around dressing up as present day soldiers, especially as we have lost over 20 this month, why don't they sign up for the real thing? Probably because they couldn't pass the fitness test and the Army ration budget wouldn't accomodate em.
But i bet you wouldnt catch them wearing dessies ....they would sweat off 8 stone in the first week ... Donnie
