Been helping a friend research her father's ww2 service, all she knows is he served in north africa and italy with the catering corps, sadly he threw away his paybook many years ago so his service number is unknown.
Her late mother applied for the records years ago but nothing was found, i would expect without the service number applying again may be fruitless, I believe the catering corps records etc were handled by the RASC untill the 1960s so would listing his service with the RASC have any chance ???,
    many thanks, John.

You can still apply without the service number just give as much detail as you can on the form and the MOD can probably still track them down.

    Hi John

Just make sure she puts her father's FULL date of birth on the form. They found my dad's from that.
