....someone is gradually unloading a "lifetime's collection" of military history - some of it VERY specialised! - through Bookends 2nd-hand bookshop there.

Apparently an old guy walks in off the street once a week with a plastic bag and sells a couple of books; he won't give his name, and has over 1,500 volumes to get through!

Today I picked up Willi Gautschi's biography/history General Henri Guisan - the only decent book in English on Swiss military defence policy during the war! - in perfect condition for a tenner...not the sort of thing you get in Easons!

And while browsing on...a 1946 copy of Eisenhower's official Supreme Commander's Report to the Combined Chiefs of Staff On The Operations In Europe Of The Allied Expeditionary Force, HMSO, 1946...in perfect condition in a plastic slip for £5!

There is some rare stuff on almost every WWII subject there at the moment, and I'm saving my pennies fast...

AND there's the bonus that there's no hint at all of what NEXT week will bring!!!

 and I didn't know I had any left.

Might just be more productive to wait for Phylo to buy something and mug him before he can get away on his bike. ;)

Oh I came sooo close to living there too. Was stationed in Holywood and looking for a house in Bangor. I got posted back to England instead.
