    Andy; I have a rather distant rellie who was actually There, mate! He was the Cook on one of the ships involved. So, I've looked into it.

    That must've been one scary ordeal!

    Any film with Sam Kydd in it is always worth watching! Unusually, he actually had stripes in that one - in most of his roles he was a humble squaddie, erk or matelot.

    As a young lad I actual watched some of the film of this ,which was done on the River Orwell near Nacton

    On the Yang Tse what I could get at most was The Sand Pebbles :)
