Hi all - does anyone need War Grave photos to be taken in Australia?

I have taken a bunch for Spidge of RAAF casualties and I usually take photos of any other CWGC types that I find in the same cemetery. I also have some Dutch headstones too.

I recently sent a couple of images across of Australian paratroop casualties from Richmond NSW to the Airborne photos coordinator. I may get to do another couple of his sometime soon.

I know that there are active coordinators on this site for Guards and Royal Artillery casualties - if there are any that are needed in Australia please let me know ASAP.

Are there other efforts out there? I think I have some that qualify for AJEX, but I don't know if anyone is seeking them.

I have the next couple of weeks off work and intend driving to a couple of places here in Queensland and then I'm visiting South Australia for a few days.

Once I start work again I will probably be shunted around the country on training courses etc so I might get to fill in a few more gaps.

Spidge - I will let you know when I get to some of the places I haven't been to yet from your list.

    cheers

    Dave

"there are at least two gentlemen in Australia" - Yeah - but I'm only visiting......

I got home 24 hours ago, I have spent time with my loved ones and had my first drinks for a few months. It's really good to be back.

Now to find something to do to fill in my leave.

    Hi Dave

Any Royal Artillery or Royal Australian Artillery (or any other commonwealth Arty) you find would be great. Let me know which cemeteries and I'll look up the names and plot details.

    Kind regards - Rob

I think I have already posted an image in another thread of the Townsville grave marker for Gunner H. Holder RA of the Maritime Regiment.

Attached are a few markers for members with a Jewish heritage, including two Aussie Artillery types.

    GUNNER JOSEPH RAA VX85886

    More images to follow.

Regarding which cemeteries, just about anywhere in SA or QLD is fair game, with visits to other states to follow shortly...

Don't worry Spidge - on my way to Esperance I'll scoot past Bunbury in my hyper-jet and grab that sole remaining WA burial from your list too

I have added these to my list of places to get to if I visit those states, don't hold your breath but who knows where I will be in a few month's time.

    Okay, breath-holding time can cease:

A bloke in Adelaide has sent me a bunch of photos he took including "A general picture of West Wyalong Lawn Cemetery, NSW"

    and

photos of Benjamin Gower Hardy's & Ralph Jones's Headstones from Cowra War Cemetery, NSW

The images are all over 2Mb, let me know the best way to send them through (if they are still needed)

    cheers

Spidge says that you have a funny side , I will take a chance!!

I have 64 female graves in 38 cemeteries in, I think, 8 States. Can I take the liberty in listing them and PM the list? I don't expect miracles but anything would be most grateful.

    Hi Tony,

Please list them by state and we will see what we can do. There are a few Aussies on the forum that reside in most states.

List each state in a separate post under the same thread.

I thought I sent you Gwen Dickson from Tocumwal but I will include it anyway.

I also have Rita Edwards, Hardy, Hudson & Kirk at Wagga Wagga.

Hudson is listed on her stone as RAAF and on the CWGC as WAAAF. Need to check with DaveB if her corporal status alters this in any way. If not, you would need to contact CWGC to have it corrected.

Although some of these are 500-900 kms away from me, I have been there to collect some of my RAAF lads.

DaveB may even have some of the others as he photographed some of these cemeteries for my lads.
