Anyone know what this stands for ?

    I bought this case on eBay a few years ago , can anyone tell me what the lettering stands for ?

    HQ- "Head Quarters" ? 3rd Royal Regiment of Wales ????
    Would this be correct ( probably not) can anyone give me any info on this ????

    The Royal Regiment of Wales (24th/41st Foot)

    3rd (Volunteer) Battalion The Royal Regiment of Wales
    Formed 1 April 1971 with Headquarters at Maindy Barracks, Cardiff
    HQ Company at Maindy Barracks, Cardiff. Formed by redesignation of 'HQ' Company Welsh Volunteers.

    1 October 1993: Battalion disbanded and merged with 4th (Volunteer) Battalion to form 2nd (Volunteer) Battalion as result of Options for Change.
    Headquarters and 'HQ' Company formed Headquarters and 'HQ' Company 2nd Battalion;

    Yep....worked with em (1st) in Kosovo with 20 Arm Bde. They trace their roots back to the Drift in Africa fighting the Zulu's

    The 24th? Much farther than that me boy, they were raised in 1689 and have been everywhere since :)

    The 41st are their juniors by 30 years!

    I don't doubt it mate but that's the bit they always reminded everyone of with a big battalion sign outside Slim Lines Camp at Pristina until some of the REME lads made some spears and stuck em in their sign.....Their RSM was not amused the next morning :lol:
