Re-found in a rather major Garage clear-out. Bought decades ago at Sabre Sales in Pompey - used to wear it ... Never been sure what it is, whether for Man, or horse, or even if military at all. Anyone know? ~A
Hmmm. A few sites appear to be calling it a 'Swedish Mauser' Bandolier? Not clear on period/issue though.
You mean something like this Swedish Mauser Leather Ammo Pouch Bandolier Belt This is the M10 pouch, a design in use from 1910.
used to wear it ... Spill the beans: which one is you? I've heard that Star Wars fans are responsible for hoovering up world stocks of 1903 Pattern Bandoliers as worn by the discerning Jawa.
Nice one Sol, more precise than anything I found - So Swedish, from 1910 onwards. Does seem to be popular with the sand people (None of those would be me... I'd be the hippy in the background, with a very sarcastic copper going through every pouch.)
Snap!! I have one very similar, up in the loft, given to me by my great grandfather, who was a cavalry trooper in WW1.
I too thought that it looked like a Cavalry bandolier and spent time looking at various sites and saw that Enes had spotted it correctly. Regards Tom
Personally I have no idea so am going with the flow, this post is just to point out that it could do with a bloody good polish! :p
A fair point. I think it might get a touch of restoration as Nerf bullets fit it rather well, and WW3 seems to have broken out among my sprogs.
