Only visited a few battlefields in 2011 , quite possibly the least ever in recent years.
I havent got any WW2 battlefield visits planned myself for 2012 but I wondered where other members might be going .

Edit: I mean old WW2 ones . Don't fancy a present day one, too dangerous.

Kota Bharu in May, with the intention of visiting the actual landing beaches, or as close as one can get given all the erosion along that bit of the coast. Had hoped we could just hire a car and get away on our own, though it now sounds like all the in-laws want to make the trip as well! If it's just us and there's time, I'd like to have a look over the other side as well, e.g. Jitra.

The better half has also suggested a trip to Normandy at Easter. Haven't worked out what the catch is yet...

Depending on funds - and the way the year plays out... everything is currently up in the air.
s'Hertogenbosch, Ardennes, Reichswald, Normandy - specifically the Odon.

Most likely do the first three in a single trip.

I hope to be visiting Goebbels villa in January. Not a battlefield but still very excited about the visit.

Some interesting destinations mentioned there, I hope to see full trip reports on the forum with lots of photos next year.
Just hope that the £ & € allow a bit of European travel in 2012.
Still not won the Lotto yet . (When I do it'll be a trip back to Canada)

All being well I hope to visit my brother's grave at Durnbach next year.

Durnbach is South of Munich and the last time I was in Germany was in 1945 when my unit ran a transit camp at Ulm which is North of the city.

This year is the 70th anniversary of Longstop Hill, I dont want to tempt fate but after my trip was cancelled last year this could finally be the year I make it to Tunisia.

Also will definitely be visiting Monte Battaglia where the 1st Guards Brigade was in action. To be honest Id be there now but my other half forgot that you legally need snow chains on the car to cross the Appenini at this time of year so its yet another chistmas in Italy without a ww2 theme for me!!

Hopefully a return trip back to Arnhem, This time without the Trouble & Strife, I have a friend who is interested in Military History and would like to visit his first Battlefield, I on the other hand wish to view the Medical posts which I did not get to see all on my last trip.

    2) Italy - Adriatic coast.
    Termoli.

    Mozzagrogna.

Also to visit 60 of my father's battalion comrades lying at peace near to the Sangro and Moro rivers.

    3) Italy - Liri Valley.
    Mt Castellone.
    Sinagoga.
    Piumarola.

To also visit 48 of my father's battalion comrades lying at peace at Cassino.

    4) Italy - Umbria.
    San Fatucchio.
    Pucciarelli.

To also visit 20 of my father's battalion comrades lying at peace at Orvieto and Bolsena.

Hopefully some good walking and learning.
