I wonder whether anyone can help me? I am trying, (unsuccessfully), at the moment to work out where Anti Aircraft Workshop Companies sat on the REME hierarchy. From what I have found to date, I believe that they would have sat behind the LAD's, possibly in the 2nd echelon, but can anyone confirm this? Also, is anybody able to tell me what a radio mechanic's role within an AA workshop Company would have been? Thank you Mike
Hi Mike Royal Artillery had REME workshops as part of both 'Heavy' and 'Light' Anti Aircraft Regiments. And they varied in size and scale accordingly. So can expand which one you are referring to? Gus
Daughter-in-laws Uncle was a Vehicle mechanic with 335 haa battery, they went ashore during invasion beginning of july to support battle of Caen, they seem to have mirrored the move of units to rhine bridges and on to Bergen Belsen.
