Glad you enjoyed the rest of the DVDs. I also am determined to get to see Auschwitz, even though the thought of visiting a place where so much horror took place is a little daunting. I may go when the 65th Anniversary of it's liberation takes place.

Do get the book for your daughter as it is very moving as well.

    O

It's nice to see kid's reading books. I've pulled my copy out and dusted it off. Will start it when I've finished re-reading the Anthony Beevor book on the downfall of Berlin.

Finished reading the Diary last week. For someone so young, she wrote some quite revealing things. No wonder her Father did not want to publish large chunks of it.

You think Teenagers today know a lot physically speaking, so for that time she was quite revealing about herself.

One thing did occur to me was that they were struggling to feed the occupants of the achterhuis. With the Hunger Winter still to come for the Dutch, I don't see how they would have survived until May 1945. It was difficult enough for those not in hiding.

I felt very sad at such a traumatic ending.

All 5 episodes are still available on the iPlayer, as are the documentary on Anne shown immediately after the last episode on BBC4 and the documentary on Rutka Laskier, another teenage diarist murdered in the Holocaust, that was shown after the first episode. Normally, programmes remain available for 7 days after the initial broadcast but all episodes of drama series sometimes stay on the iPlayer for 7 days after the last one.

Additionally, the continuity announcer said that, at least in Scotland, the series will be repeated on January 24 on BBC2. It was the BBC Scotland announcer but I'd be surprised if this isn't UK wide
just watched a program on EQhd channel, called Rutka,Diary of a Holocaust.very powerful and very moving,it is being shown again on monday night [24 th dec 2012]in case anyone is interested?
