Had the privilege of attending the dedication of a new tri-part memorial to the crews of two B-17s, passengers and pilots of a Horsa and all US service personnel who served locally and were killed.

On 12 Dec 1944, thirty-one members of the 17th Airborne Division's 194th Glider Infantry Regiment and two glider pilots of the 88th Troop Carrier Squadron were killed when the tail fell off their glider.

Three days later, the B-17s, from 306th Bomb Group, collided above the airfield. All but two of the airmen were killed.

The memorial stands behind New Greenham Arts, Lindenmuth Way, New Greenham Park (off the A339, Newbury). Park in front of NGA and walk down the side of the building.

My husband is the one in green on the right in the photo on the first post. He was sent a few photographs afterwards which I thought I'd share.

Wish I'd seen this thread earlier, I would have gone to see it today if I'd known where it was.
