Browsing through the Flickr site I came upon this posting of Relics found in France including these Dog Tags anyone know if these lads survived? Dog Tags | Flickr - Photo Sharing! Sorry if this has been posted before I did search.Added photo Simpsons address building dates from 1941.The other two seem either demolished or rebuilds. Jim

The other two records don't match in US NARA records.
Settles enlisted in 1946 according to US NARA enlistment records . Could that be a re-enlistment date? Just asking because his tag is of the type last issued in July 1943 and he received his tetanus innoculation for military service in 1943. Dave
Interesting that Simpson was recruited in an area away from his next of kin (who would appear to be his wife?). Her address being Ohio, yet he was recruited in either Illinois, Michigan or Wisconsin. I wonder why? Dave

I wonder why? Dave They may have been living in a state other than Ohio, and then when he went into the Army, the wife moved back to live with her parents. Very commonly done that way during the war. Hello Jim and all. My name is Shanay A Settles. I am almost 100% positive that those dog tags for Clarence R Settles belonged to my grandfather. Do you know what happened to those dog tags? I know the original post was 4 years ago.
My grandfather Clarence R Settles passed away in 1989. He is buried at Ft Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
Hi All I hope that Verrieres is still about Hello Settles and welcome to the forum If anyone has worldwide access to Ancestry then some of the information is available there. As Settles has shown Clarence R did survive the war and relations are still around I do not have worldwide access but have found records for them - without details unfortunately. It would appear that there are several family trees for each of these men, so it is highly possible that there are living family members. TD
Sorry TD ,Verrieres doesn't visit but I`ve gave him an update that Flickr link is still up with the photographer asking for the help. Here`s his finds https://www.flickr.com/photos/25385955@N05/ Kyle
Hi Kyle Thanks for the heads up on that - as I cannot access all the databases on Ancestry due to my not having worldwide subscription, I wished to point out that it certainly appears that there are avenues to explore to answer his query, if he or someone else has the access to the relevant files. TD
Hi TD, I`m not sure what his reasons were for posting the original question back then, I believe it was just a general query to help the `finder` with the photo reproduced for the benefit of any relative who may drop by? If SETTLES or any other relative has a Flickr account they could try and contact the `finder` via that site? As the original post was January 2011 Jim did not specifically recall it but is glad that `family` have eventually found their way to it. Kyle
