Hello, Everybody, I search the American AOP pilots, ( If there are) Buried in Henri-Chapelle cementry. Died between 15-09-1944 and 31-10-1944 Thanks in front. Regards, Gerard from Holland. Hello,Resurchers, No body is answering, I can not find ,,my,, AOP pilots, Some Americans from our battlefield are buried in Henri-Chapelle.(BELGIUM) So, I like to try this, Or is this an impossible question ?? REGARDS, GERARD FROM HOLLAND
What do you mean by AOP?-- (Aerial Observation Post?) The casualties buried at Henri-Chapelle are searchable by name or unit, but not by job. These AOPs were field artillery assets, and were assigned to various levels of FA units. Theoretically, each firing battalion of Field Artillery, each separate artillery brigade or group headquarters, and each division artillery headquarters included one air section. So, unless you know what unit(s) these men were assigned to, I am afraid your search is going to be difficult. Their gravestones would probably not include any data about the fact that they were AOP pilots-- normal US Markings are name, state of origin, date of death, and unit of assignment at their deaths. See: American Battle Monuments Commission for search assistance. Doc
