Hi, I thought i was computor savey i have Internet Explorer 9 with BT Yahoo as my Home page and have Bt yahoo Toolbar installed, now iv'e noticed Amazon has installed its self on the tollbar and i can not get rid of it, does anyone know how to do it, its driving me mad.
Close IE and then remove the toolbar via Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. When you reopen IE it should be gone.
Ongoing apparently: Amazon in BT Yahoo! Toolbar Apps? - BTCare Community Forums Normally, I'd run through the usual ways to remove such toolbar frippery (add/remove programs - tools>manage add-ons or View>Toolbars for the lighter option), but in this case mate (if that thread is anything to go by), I suspect you've got to live with it until BT/Yahoo/Amazon pull their fingers out. Now if you'll allow me to be glib - removing the Yahoo toolbar altogether might do it, as it's a dodgy bit of browser-slowing nonsense which brings little or nothing to the party. And I used to hate people saying this to me , but maybe consider the latest version of Firefox as your browser, because... it rocks, and allows you to customise to your hearts content while avoiding the spammy stuff provided by the usual web suspects. It only takes a day or so to readjust to the slightly different browser environment, and I'm now firmly of the opinion it's worth it. Cross-posted with Vitesse above, sorry. I couldn't even get the standard amazon bar to install on my IE, so assume it's specifically the Yahoo change that's the problem?
Further to the Firefox toolbar recommended by A. When I last had Virus problems on my PC the guru who cured the problem installed Firefox as my browser without consulting me first. As someone who had always used IE as my browser I was slightly pxxxxxxxd off at the time as I had to get used to the new system. Nowadays I would not dream of changing back as I'm 100% in favour of Firefox and would recommend it to anyone who has doubts. Ron
Yep, another happy Firefoxer here too Dumped IE years ago, tried Opera for a while, but found Firefox was by far the fastest, most secure and best for privacy. Also worth noting that - as long as you have sufficient RAM - Firefox is still updating its latest versions to work with XP systems, whereas if you're using IE you are forever stuck on IE8. Alanst500: if you do decide to try Firefox, make sure you download it direct from Mozilla.org. Don't download it from Yahoo, Filehippo or any other third party site.
