This man is buried in my local Cemetery (St.Helens) but I am not able to find him on CWGC.......Even though he clearly has CWGC Headstone?

    I think:

Harry Parry Thomas, probate states died 16 Jan 46, "of Rainhill Hospital, Rainhill near Liverpool", a psychiatric facility. According to Wiki "From 1938 to 1949 the admissions part of the hospital served as a Royal Naval Auxiliary Hospital".

WW1 service with King's Liverpool Regt.

Courtesy of GRO £3 digital download. Not classed as "war dead", hence (as per Owen's link in post #2) headstone (notched type) is correct.

Kind regards, and a thought for the departed, always,

    Jim.

There is a WW1 Award Roll for Harry Parry Thomas, King's Liverpool Regt, with service numbers 2023 & 240485.

Interestingly FMP and TNA have a WW1 Military Medal award for 240485 plus another for a Bar, both of these awards are in the London Gazette. The FMP and TNA copies of the records show initials as CHP but I believe these were misread from the a LG entry which showed L/C.H.P. Thomas, the service number is consistent.

The question therefore why did the award not get mentioned on his headstone or have we the correct man? The Probate record and the certificate posted by JimHerriot show the same date of death as the headstone.
