Hi, I'm interested in any information about Irlam and Cadishead's involvement in WW2 as I'm co-writing a book about the area. So far we have interviewed many local veterans and their experiences range from Dunkirk, North Africa, Italy, D-Day, Japanese POW, Lancaster navigator and many more theatres of war. We've collected 100's of photos, gone through 7 years of newspapers and written 700 pages.

In May 2010 we published a book called "A District at War" which described the area's involvement in WW1 (623 pages, over 400 photos of local men and some really good reviews :D). All the proceeds from both books go to a local charity. I'm also a moderator on themanchesters forum.

Any way, that's me. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute to other people's posts.

    Best regards
    Pete
